Nemours Center for Children's Health Media (KidsHealth)
Founded in 1992 as part of Nemours’ commitment to improving the health of children, the Nemours Center for Children’s Health Media (KidsHealth) creates engaging online, print, and video media about a wide range of health and family issues.
KidsHealth’s physician-directed, professional editorial staff creates KidsHealth.org, the #1, most-visited site about children's health and development written for three distinct audiences: parents, kids, and teens. KidsHealth’s award-winning content includes more than 5,000 doctor-reviewed, up-to-date, and easy-to-read articles, interactive features, games, and video (in English and Spanish). Recent accolades include a Parents’ Choice Gold Award for Best Website for Kids, four Webby Awards for Best Family/Parenting Website and Best Health Website. KidsHealth also was selected as one of the 30 Best Websites by U.S. News & World Report and one of the 50 Coolest Websites by TIME. KidsHealth also creates KidsHealth in the Classroom, a free website for educators featuring standards-based health curricula, activities, handouts, and more.
The Center partners with outside organizations on innovative educational programs to enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes. Through its partnership with GetWellNetwork, KidsHealth creates a pediatric video library in English and Spanish. The KidsHealth series recently received a FREDDIE for Best Asthma & Allergies programming from the International Health & Medical Media Awards. Nemours and KidsHealth also partner with Emmi Solutions to create Emmi® + KidsHealth, a pediatric version of the award-winning educational programs previously only available for adult conditions and procedures.
KidsHealth works with health providers, insurers, media groups, and corporations to provide family-friendly health information and materials specifically for parents, kids, and teens. KidsHealth partners include more than 50 children’s hospitals, 250 community hospitals, the American Academy of Family Physicians (familydoctor.org), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Girlshealth.gov), MSN, Seventeen.com, and many others.
Nemours’ KidsHealth content is also available on Nemours.org.
