Richard T. Christopher serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of The Nemours Foundation and Chair of the Board of Managers — Delaware Valley. In 2014, he was elected as a Trustee of the Alfred I. duPont Testamentary Trust.
He graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Maryland in 1961 with a BS degree in accounting. He began his real estate career in 1961 with Patterson-Schwartz and has served as a salesman, sales manager, general manager and executive vice president. He retired as president and CEO of Patterson-Schwartz Real Estate in 2012.
Mr. Christopher was a member and past chairman of the New Castle County Board of Realtors, and a member of the Delaware Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. He was director and past chairman of The Dozen and the Realty Alliance, both national organizations of leading real estate companies. He is a past chairman of the Board of Directors for TReND (The Delaware Valley Regional MLS) and served on their Executive Committee for 12 years.
In 2006 he was co-chair for the capital campaign for Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County, has been on the board of the Catholic Diocese Foundation, as well as the Finance Council for the Catholic Diocese. He is currently involved with the St. Patrick’s Day Society, raising funds for St. Patrick’s Center. He is also a member of the Board of The Friends of #107 Colored School, a member of the Development Committee of Urban Promise of Wilmington, as well as assisting other nonprofits in fund raising in the State of Delaware.
In addition to serving on Nemours Boards and as chairman of the Nemours Mansion and Gardens Committee, he is also chairman of the Advisory Council of Nemours Health & Preventive Services and has an active role with Nemours Fund for Children’s Health.
