As Chief Medical Officer and Physician-in-Chief, Dr. King leads the health and wellness strategy and serves as the principal architect of the clinical, academic, research, and business alignment strategies for Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital and Nemours duPont Pediatrics.
Dr. King is a nationally recognized physician with a distinguished list of accomplishments including a background in research, emergency medicine, teaching, patient safety, and quality improvement. He joins the organization from his most recent position as Executive Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He was also the Chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine and Chairman ad interim, Department of Pediatrics for the school.
A graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, Dr. King completed his pediatric residency at The University of Texas Affiliated Hospitals, Houston, and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Additionally, Dr. King has a significant background in medical quality and medical management. He holds a Master of Medical Management (MMM) degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He also has served in leadership positions for several national and regional organizations, including the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
