Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Mariane Stefano, FACHE, received her nursing degree from the University of Delaware and earned an MBA from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Before coming to Nemours, she was Director of Diagnostic Services at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington.
Ms. Stefano joined Nemours in 1992 as Director of the Ambulatory Care Center at Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. She was subsequently promoted to positions of progressive responsibility, including Associate Administrator and Practice Administrator for the Nemours physician practice in the Delaware Valley.
In 2006, Ms. Stefano was appointed Managing Director of Service Excellence for the Nemours Enterprise. She also served as the Interim Executive Director for Nemours Health and Prevention Services from 2009 to 2011.
In 2012, Ms. Stefano was appointed to Vice President, Service and Operational Excellence for the Nemours Enterprise. In this role, Ms. Stefano will be the Nemours Enterprise Leader for Continuous Improvement, where she will have direct responsibility for implementation of strategic improvement methodology and practices to support Nemours’ Continuous Improvement philosophy and management system. She is also responsible for driving all service excellence initiatives throughout the organization's multiple operating sites in the Delaware Valley and Florida.
Nemours' commitment to service excellence is held to the highest standards, ensuring continued success in care and service delivery. Ms. Stefano provides strategic leadership in designing and implementing a service excellence model across a
complex organization.
She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley, and the Associate for Patient Experience. Ms. Stefano has also served on the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware Board of Directors.
She lives in Chadds Ford, PA, with her husband, Dr. John Stefano. They have two grown children — Brian and Megan — and two dogs. She maintains a healthy work-life balance by heading to the beach, boating, and gardening.
