"A Night at Nemours" set for June 14, 2013 at Nemours Mansion
Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children Gala
The 8th annual "A Night at Nemours" gala to benefit Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, one of the most anticipated parties of the year, will take place for the first time at the place where it all began — the grounds of the incomparable Nemours Mansion and Gardens on Rockland Road in Wilmington.
"A Night at Nemours" 2013 will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 14.
The gala features an elegant party with cocktails, seated dinner, music, and dancing "under the stars" in a beautifully decorated tent at Nemours Mansion and Gardens, estate home of Alfred I. and Jessie Ball duPont, adjacent to the hospital. The lively Big Ray and the Kool Kats will provide musical entertainment
The beneficiary of this year's gala is the Solid Organ Transplantation Program in the expansion of the hospital, now underway. The program brings the promise of a second chance to children with complex kidney and liver disease. More than 130 solid organ transplants have been performed at the hospital under the direction of Division Chief and transplant surgeon Stephen P. Dunn, MD. As the expansion takes shape over the next year and a half, transplant patients will benefit from private rooms and more family-friendly amenities.
"Medical science has advanced to the point where we are saving many more lives than ever before, and it continues to advance," said Dr. Dunn who is also Interim Chairman, Department of Surgery. "As we make progress with treatment, we want to provide the best possible healing environment for our patients and their families. The proceeds from this event will help us achieve that goal."
