Dave Hancox, RN
Patient Care Facilitator
Patient Care Unit - 3E
Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children
Dave Hancox found the inspiration to become a pediatric nurse from personal experience. “When I was younger, I spent a lot of time in hospitals with sick family members. I saw firsthand the care and compassion that nurses gave to my family members, and it was their dedication that led me to my chosen profession,” he explains.
Currently working on a Masters in Nursing Leadership at Wilmington College, Dave is devoted not only to the field of nursing, but also to Nemours. He believes that it is an honor to work with children and their families, and his dynamic nature shines through in every encounter with his patients. He also acknowledges his 3E team members, believing that it is in working as a team that greatness is realized.
If Dave could share any advice with someone considering pediatric nursing, it would be to enjoy every moment of every patient interaction, because there is a lesson to be learned. Says Norine Watson, RN, MSN, CNAA, BC and Director of Nursing Excellence, “Dave Hancox is a perfect example of a pediatric nurse and a role model for men in nursing.”
