Brandi Stefani-Geoghagan, RN
ENT Nurse
Division of Otolaryngology
Nemours Children’s Clinic in Pensacola
Brandi Stefani-Geoghagan realized she wanted to be a nurse in high school when she saw a program about a NICU unit. She was amazed by the nurses and how they helped these tiny humans stay alive.
She believes that it was the care from nurses that led to the babies’ survival. “It wasn’t the technology of the unit, but rather the care and consideration of the babies and their families that intrigued me,” she states.
Brandi thinks that many people do not realize that being a pediatric nurse means that you work with people big and small. “Your patient may be a child, but you work with their families, too. This is the most endearing and special aspect of my job,” she says. Reassuring and educating families, coordinating the child’s care—these are all aspects of her work that Brandi finds rewarding.
Brandi is the mother of a child born with a heart condition known as Transposition of the Great Vessels, which is now resolved, but her son later acquired cerebral palsy. Being a mother of a physically disabled Nemours patient, Brandi brings insight to her role that is noticed by not only the families she works with, but by her colleagues, too.
“Brandi is a special pediatric nurse who understands the medical and emotional needs of children with medically complex problems. She is very knowledgeable and worksvery diligently to ensure that our patients are cared for in a timely, sensitive, gentle and thoughtful manner,” asserts Jeff Chicola, MD, ENT Physician at Nemours Children’s Clinic in Pensacola. “Brandi does all the little extra things that make Nemours' a special health care facility. She also oversees my schedule to be sure that I have all that I need to provide surgical care for my patients with ear problems.”
