Nemours has provided comments on priorities for the development of national quality frameworks to members of Congress and relevant committees: the Administration (including federal agencies and departments such as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ); the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC); and other stakeholders.
We focus on the development of quality and outcome measures for children, especially as these measures are articulated and applied in various venues (National Health Care Quality Strategy, public health insurance programs such as Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, health insurance exchanges, "meaningful use" criteria, accountable care organizations, etc.).
Leading the Way in "Meaningful Use" of Electronic Health Records
As a winner of the HIMSS Davies Award, Nemours' expertise is continually sought by policymakers and other health care providers. Nemours has provided technical assistance, promoted meaningful use through events, and hosted Congressional tours demonstrating "meaningful use" of health information technology to improve pediatric quality and health outcomes.
Transforming the Child Health System
In 2011, Nemours convened national child health experts and representatives of both health systems and insurers to consider how the new opportunities subsequent to health care reform could be leveraged to transform the child health system.
We continue to lead this national effort to promote children’s health and well-being through a transformed system that leverages new funding opportunities, historical investments in prevention, and a laser focus on quality, cost, and population health.
