The Nemours Model of Care results in better health for children
Nemours’ Model of Care is the platform for our integrated pediatric health system. The family-centered Model includes programs and services in the core areas of Clinical Care, Research, Education and Prevention. Aspects from each of these areas can be customized and delivered in a way that meets the unique needs of each child and family we serve.
The integration of our programs and services is key. Considered one way, our Model enables immediate application of the latest Research in our Clinical Care settings; in reverse, the data regarding response to new therapies is collected and studied in our labs, and shared among the physicians and scientists connected throughout Nemours. Prevention programs are implemented in our Practice and within the communities we serve. And through a variety of Education initiatives, we share our knowledge and expertise in many ways: with children, families, teachers, community members, referring physicians and other health professionals around the world.

Whether we’re at the bedside, in the exam room, online, in the lab or in the classroom, Nemours Model of Care enables us to address and anticipate the needs for the whole health of the child and their family.
Technology enhances our Model of Care
Nemours is at the forefront of technological integration in the care of our patients thanks to the development and use of NemoursOne—our comprehensive electronic medical record (EMR) system. In addition to unifying all of our physicians, researchers and clinicians across locations and specialties, we have designed a system that connects referring physicians (through NemoursLink) and patient families (through MyNemours), so that every member of the care team can be informed at the same time and contribute to improving the health of the child at every step.
To further enhance the usability of MyNemours, the online portal for our patient families, Nemours Center for Children’s Health Media (the creators of KidsHealth.org) partner with our Clinical Informatics team to incorporate family-friendly explanations of clinical tests, diagnoses and procedures (why they are necessary, what to expect), as well as a drug database for prescribed and over-the-counter medication. The database is linked to each child’s medical record and offers parents understanding about how, why, how much, and when to administer the drugs.
