In Jacksonville, Nemours Children’s Clinic has 17 pediatric divisions providing world-class care to children with complex health problems and needs. Serving children from Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida, the facility sits on the banks of the St. Johns River. Two satellite clinics extend our care to Jacksonville Beach and Orange Park.
Jacksonville’s division of ophthalmology teamed up with the Vision Is Priceless Council to develop Pediatric Vision Screening, an educational CD distributed to pediatricians and family physicians in Florida at no cost to them. The American Academy of Ophthalmology is hosting a version on its Web site, while the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians have links to the presentation on their Web sites. In addition, the Children’s Eye Foundation selected Jacksonville as one of two national “See by Three” sites.
The division of hospital pediatrics in Jacksonville increased the coverage of on-duty attending physicians. In collaboration with the University of Florida and Wolfson Children’s Hospital, both Nemours affiliates, in-house coverage was increased to 12 hours a day, and the number of physician attendees increased to three on weekdays. The expansion improved the continuity and quality of care, patient safety and patient and family satisfaction.
