Nemours BrightStart! Dyslexia Initiative

In today’s world, reading is essential to success.

For children with dyslexia, or other learning disabilities, reading is a hurdle that can be almost impossible to jump. Students who struggle in the classroom early on may suffer educational, social, emotional and economic consequences.
Dyslexia is a very common reading problem. However, most dyslexia is not identified until third grade or later. By then, children have fallen behind and may become so frustrated and disappointed with their reading problems that they give up. That's why Nemours BrightStart! was created.
By finding children at risk for dyslexia in Pre-K, we can help provide some of the tools they’ll need to succeed at reading.
