The Nemours BrightStart! Mobile classroom will be stopping by the 3rd Annual Read and Romp Jacksonville Event on October 31, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the St. Vincent's Family Medicine Center. Nemours BrightStart! staff will be on hand giving out a free book to each child who stops by, and to provide free information, materials, and resources that empower parents of young children to become their child's first teacher. Parents will have the opportunity to talk with Nemours BrightStart! staff to learn about ways to support their young readers as well as have a chance to register to win a year family membership to the Jacksonville Zoo.

Read and Romp Jacksonville is a free reading event designed for children eight and under. Other activities at Read and Romp will include: story readings and free book giveaways, cookie decorating, face painting, arts and crafts and train rides. Read and Romp is part of a national non-profit organization — Reach Out and Read, aimed at promoting early literacy by giving new books to children and encouraging parents to read aloud in pediatric exam rooms across the nation.
