- Jacksonville Zoo's Spooktacular - October 2008
More than 50 volunteers helped Nemours make another Spooktacular showing a success at the Jacksonville Zoo and Garden’s Halloween event (Oct. 24-26, Oct. 30-31, Nov. 1). In partnership with Nemours BrightStart! Dyslexia Initiative, the Nemours Children’s Clinic Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Nemours hosted Spooktacular as the title sponsor for its third year. Spooktacular is the Zoo’s signature family event for Halloween fun. By leveraging strategic integration of our community engagement and branding resources, our market presence throughout northeast Florida will be powerful, significant and impactful.
Spooktacular entertained more than 20,000 Northeast Florida children and families for six fun-filled nights, with Halloween festivities and exciting community engagement opportunities presented in a safe, family-centered environment.
The BrightStart! 40-foot mobile classroom was on display at the Zoo entrance during all six nights of Spooktacular. BrightStart! staff passed out free items such as bandaids, bookmarks, and pencils to trick-or-treaters, and provided information on BrightStart!'s services. Each night, visitors were able to register to win a prize pack of a BrightStart! blanket and children's book bundle.
Additionally, Nemours provided more than 1,600 laminated photo security identification cards for children and over 850 free online ID cards at a booth inside the Zoo in partnership with the Child Safety Network.
This year for the first time Nemours hosted a VIP Community Event for Nemours leaders, key donors, community partners and Zoo Board members. The invitation-only event began with a buffet riverfront dinner, transportation on the Zoo’s train, a Spooktacular sneak peak, and concluded with a dessert extravaganza and laser light show.
As the title sponsor for Spooktacular, Nemours was featured prominently throughout Jacksonville in October as part of a comprehensive paid media and promotion campaign.
