Congratulations to Kelli and John Reep, this past month’s Parenting Improvement Activity winners.
When asked to tell us about how your child’s father has nurtured the father-child relationship using the tips that were provided the in the monthly newsletter, Kelli wrote:
“My husband, John Reep, and I have just adopted our 3 year old and 20 month old grandsons (he is their stepfather). He calls them son and tells them what a good job they do most every day. He takes them outside to catch lizards and rolly pollys, takes them on wagon walks, goes to the park, and reads books. He constantly asks for “high fives” and praises them. He tells them he loves them and treats them just like his own son who is 21 years old.”

Congratulations to Angelita F. Aaron

When asked to write about “the power of choices,”Angelita wrote:
“My name is Angelita Aaron. I have two sons (ages 17 and 5) and an 8-year-old daughter. I’m single. I consider myself a democratic parent. My kids have had temper tantrums, especially in big stores. I’ve taught them that if we wait we can find a better deal. They may see a game in the store, but with patience they can find the same game for maybe $15.00 less somewhere else. I’m especially proud of my 17-year-old whose prom was $45.00. He wanted to go, but said, ‘I can buy something with $45.00 instead of giving it to the school.’ My 8- year-old used to fuss about spending her own money. I explained, we have consequences. We have to pay for it or leave it in the store, and we make a compromise.”
