CHOMP

The Children’s Healthy Obesity Management Program, also known as CHOMP was developed through a variety of health professionals that are concerned about childhood obesity. The Nemours Children’s Clinic is partnered with the Duval County Health Department and the University of Florida. The program was developed as a part of the Healthy Jacksonville 2010 initiative. The Healthy Jacksonville 2010 Initiative has complied with the standards that are set by the Centers for Disease Control for the Healthy People 2010 Initiative. There are two goals, which are to increase the years and the quality of life of individuals, and to eliminate health disparities.

The mission of the CHOMP program is to address the issue of childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles in the process. Children and their parents need education about nutrition and fitness and the web site that has been developed is to aid in this education and make this information easily assessable.
