Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center, located in the lobby of the clinic, provides information and assistance to patients and their families. The center offers audio tapes, videotapes, books, and much more! Staffed by NCC-J volunteers, the center assists patients and their families by providing a variety of medical information resources. Although it provides excellent medical resources, the center does not give medical advice. For specific questions, parents are referred back to their child's doctors.

The library offers recreational reading for children of all ages including prize-winning literature. While a parent is checking out a medical book or information on parenting skills, children may select books, audio tapes, or videotapes to enjoy about the human body at home. The library features a series of age-appropriate books so that parents can better explain diseases, conditions, or treatments to their children.

Other topics include children's activities, parenting the young child, parenting teenagers, learning disabilities, family issues (new baby, adoption, divorce, and death), childhood challenges (such as thumb sucking, bedwetting, and sleep disorders), personal issues (self-esteem and stress reduction), cancer, Down syndrome, multiple sclerosis, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, hearing impairment, lupus, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, cystic fibrosis, autism, dyslexia, HIV/AIDS, eating disorders, allergies, asthma, visual impairments, kidney diseases, diabetes, health, and children safety.
