Urology

The Division of Urology at the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville provides particular expertise for urinary and genital reconstructive surgery, management of neurogenic bladder dysfunction, and operative treatment of genitourinary tumors and congenital anomalies. A complete urodynamic laboratory is available for evaluation of children with enuresis (involuntary discharge of urine).

The division offers evaluation and treatment for children of all ages who have problems or issues relating to the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. A team of board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric urologists evaluate and treat conditions including, but not limited to, urinary tract obstructions, ureteral reflux, urinary infection, hematuria (blood in the urine), kidney stones, tumors, and neurogenic bladder. Urologists also consult with expectant parents when the family’s obstetrician discovers a urologic problem before birth.

The Division of Urology also treats a variety of genital abnormalities. These include undescended testes, phimosis and other problems related to the circumcised and uncircumcised penis, and hydrocele (a collection of fluid around the testis) or other related inguinal conditions.
