Otolaryngology
The Division of Otolaryngology is staffed by board certified surgeons in otolaryngology. Also known as ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physicians, the staff is available for consultation and treatment of pediatric inpatients and outpatients.
Diagnosis, medical, and surgical treatment is offered for children with special problems of the ears, mouth, nose, throat, and sinus. The otolaryngology surgeons perform tonsillectomies (removal of the tonsils), adenoidectomies (removal of the adenoids), and myringotomies (removal of fluid from the middle ear) as needed. Common diagnoses include ear infections; nose, sinus, and throat infections; airway problems; foreign body aspiration (that is, removal of food or objects that have been inhaled into the lungs); and injury to the head or neck.
Hearing evaluations are available through the Division of Audiology located within the otolaryngology clinic. The pediatric audiologists work closely with the otolaryngologists to provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment/intervention recommendations for optimal audiological healthcare and speech language development.
Awards & Recognition
We were the first in town to perform endoscopic neck surgery last year for the removal of cysts and tumors. Also, we are now the only pediatric clinic that is offering successful sinuplasty surgery.
