Gastroenterology
The Division of Gastroenterology at the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Pensacola provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for children with diseases of the digestive tract, liver, and pancreas. Problems managed include gastroesophageal reflux, chronic abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver diseases. Special nutritional support is also provided for patients who require it. A full range of services are provided including endoscopy, pH probe studies, breath hydrogen testing, liver and intestinal biopsy, esophageal dilatation, sclerotherapy, and foreign body removal.
The department consists of two board-certified gastroenterologists, two physician assistants and two registered nurses. The nurse provides valuable assistance with patient care including procedures, office visits, and service coordination.
Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. The division receives referrals from primary care physicians in Pensacola, the Florida Panhandle, and southern Alabama. A primary care referral is required for an appointment.
