Nephrology

The Division of Nephrology at the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Pensacola provides comprehensive management and treatment of acute and chronic renal disease. In addition, the clinic treats more common problems such as hematuria and proteinuria, chronic urinary tract infections, electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, nephrotic syndrome, and collagen vascular disease. The department also performs ultrasounds and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring on site.

The division, in conjunction with Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, has developed an outpatient and inpatient dialysis unit to meet the needs of children who require hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

The division consists of a board-certified pediatric nephrologist and a registered nurse who provide 24-hour coverage for emergencies. The Division of Nephrology is also extensively involved in research activities to improve patient outcomes. Comprehensive education is provided for patients and families.

Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. The Division of Nephrology receives referrals from primary care and family practices in Pensacola as well as northwestern Florida and southern Alabama.
