Pulmonology
The Division of Pulmonology at the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Pensacola cares for patients with childhood respiratory diseases and problems including asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic lung disorders, chronic cough, recurrent pneumonia, stridor, sleep-related breathing disorders, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Referrals are received from primary care and family practitioners in Pensacola, as well as in northwestern Florida and southern Alabama. New patient appointments are usually scheduled within a week.
Pulmonary-function tests are performed on-site by the registered respiratory therapist. The division is a satellite center for the nationally accredited Cystic Fibrosis Care Center for the Northwest Florida.
Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to Sacred Heart Children's Hospital. A board-certified physician from the Division of Pulmonology is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies.
Available procedures include flexible bronchoscopy, exercise challenge testing, and polysomnography.
