Endocrinology

The Division of Endocrinology of the Nemours Children’s Clinic in Viera provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to infants, children, and teenagers with endocrine disorders. The division is composed of pediatric Endocrinologists, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Diabetes Educators, Registered Dietitian, Nurses, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Medical Assistants. All of our Endocrinologists are board certified in both pediatrics and endocrinology.

Common problems seen in the clinic include but are not limited to diabetes, growth disorders, obesity, rickets, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, precocious puberty, hypothyroidism, Graves disease, Cushing syndrome, hypopituitarism, Turner syndrome, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Approximately half the cases seen by the division are diabetes-related, with the remaining patients being seen for the other endocrine problems.

Our Pediatric Diabetes Education Program is one of the few in the State of Florida to achieve certification by the American Diabetes Association and our endocrine testing center offers the full gamut of endocrine testing.

The Division is involved in numerous clinical trials including the use of innovative therapies to promote growth and, in collaboration with the University of Florida, we are part of several trials studying how to prevent diabetes. This involvement in clinical research allows our patients access to the latest innovations in the field of pediatric endocrinology.
