Healthy Lifestyles for Preventing Childhood Obesity

With two-thirds of adults and one-third of our youth either overweight or obese and many suffering from related health consequences, prevention efforts need to start in childhood. Nemours is committed to taking a leading role in promotion of a healthy lifestyle and obesity prevention.

We have national, regional and local programs to help families understand the causes and health implications of obesity and the best ways to promote healthier habits. Follow our advocacy efforts in Washington to promote policies to focus on wellness.

Here in Central Florida, Dr. Lloyd Werk at the Nemours Children's Clinic, Orlando, is leading important initiatives to encourage children to eat healthy and engage in physical activity. Nemours has a simple formula (5-2-1-Almost None) for a healthy lifestyle which can help families start on the road towards healthier habits.
