Craig McAllaster, EdD

Board of Managers, Florida

Craig McAllaster is the dean and a Professor of Management at the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He has served on the faculties of Alfred State College, Cornell University and the University of Central Florida. Dr. McAllaster worked for Consolidated Foods, AVX Corporation and Loral Corporation in executive positions prior to academia.

Dr. McAllaster has conducted organizational climate studies, executive training, strategic planning retreats, and executive coaching. He has consulted with a wide variety of organizations including: Exxon/Mobil; IBM; Reader's Digest; NYS Department of Environmental Conservation; National Science Foundation; Aramark; Xerox; Monsanto; Allied Waste; AT&T; Texaco; Black & Decker; TRW; Pacific Gas & Electric; Brunswick Corporation; and Consolidated Edison.

In 1999, Dr. McAllaster joined the board of directors of CNL Hotels & Resorts, a public, unlisted REIT that owned two resorts valued at $40 million. He served as chair of the audit committee, member of the audit committee, chair of the corporate governance committee, and a member of the special committee. In April of 2007, the company was purchased for $6.6 billion by Morgan Stanley.

In January 2001, he joined the Board of Managers for the Alfred I. duPont Testamentary Trust a position held until January 2005 when the board was reorganized. He was reappointed to the Florida Board of Managers in 2009.

In November 2003, Dr. McAllaster joined the board of BankFIRST, a community bank in Winter Park, Florida. He chairs the audit committee and is vice-chair of the technology committee. In April of 2007, BankFIRST was acquired by Castle Creek Investors, he continues on that board. He was voted on to The BANKShares, Inc. Corporate Board in 2011.

In January 2009, he was appointed as a commissioner for the Orlando Utilities Commission, he is chair of the audit committee and currently serves as Second Vice President.

Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of AACSB International (the premier international accrediting agency for business schools) and is a member of the Finance Committee. He is a past president of the Southern Business Deans Association. He is a member of National Association of Corporate Directors and the Academy of Management.

Active in the Central Florida community, Dr. McAllaster has been involved with Junior Achievement, Manufacturers Association of Central Florida, the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, Metro-Orlando International Affairs Commission, Central Florida Partnership, and MyRegion.org. He served on the Nemours Council whose mission is to create a healthier community by concentrating on the wellness needs of children in Central Florida. He is also a member of the Orange County Sheriffs Citizen Advisory Council.

Dr. McAllaster earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, MS from Alfred University, MA and doctorate degrees from Columbia University.
