Building a Healthier Future for Children
In our planning, we talked to parents and listened to children to find out what they would wish for most in a hospital. We asked our caregivers what would help them continue to deliver the very best care.
These thoughts and ideas helped inspire the design of what will become our new space — an environment to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing of children.
Opening in 2014, we are creating a children's hospital like no other in the region, giving our patients and families the promise of even better days to come.

For Patient Families
- Rooms that accommodate special needs families
- A view to the outside in every room
- Refrigerators and closet within the room
- Private, single-bed rooms
- Two TVs in every patient room — one for patient and one for family
- A shower in every room for patient and family use
- A serenity room and playroom on every unit
- Washer and dryer in the family room on every unit

For Our Care Givers
- Separate elevators for patient care and visitors
- Conference room on every unit
- Helipad on top of the current building
- Overnight sleeping accommodations for residents on all units
- A computer for patient documentation in every room
- Alcoves for wheelchairs, linens, portable X-ray, etc.
- Access to an award-winning Electronic Health Record system
- 24-bed patient care communities — with three eight-patient neighborhoods, each with a Team Station
