John Lord serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Nemours Foundation. In July 2000, he was elected as a Trustee of the Alfred I. duPont Testamentary Trust and also became a member of the Board of Directors of Nemours. He also serves as a board member for Dornoch Sutherland Assurance Ltd, Cruden Bay Risk Retention Group and Pediatric Medical Services of Florida, Inc.
He retired in 2000 from his position with Bank of America as the Orlando area market President and Small Business and Premier Banking Executive for the State of Florida. He was first involved with the Trust and Nemours as a representative of the former Corporate Trustee, NationsBank, and as a member of the Board of Managers of Nemours.
Mr. Lord is a former Chairman of the Orange County Industrial Authority, the Mid-Florida Industrial Development Commission, the Community Foundation of Central Florida, and the Florida Citrus Sports Association. He has served as Treasurer of the Orange County Public School Foundation, Vice President of the Orange County Civic Improvement Corporation and 1999 Chairman of the Heart of Florida United Way. He is a former member of the St. Joe Company, FEC Industries, Council of 100 and ABC Fine Wine & Spirits Boards of Directors. Mr. Lord is also a former Board member of the Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation and a past chairman of Valencia Community College Board of Trustees. He formally served as an Overseer of the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College.
Mr. Lord is married with two grown children, one grandson and one granddaughter who all reside in the Orlando area. He is actively involved in the community of Orlando and has a deep dedication to Nemours and its mission to restore and improve the health of children.
