Robert Wilson, MD (Dr. Bob) is Clerkship Co-Director of Pediatrics at the Pensacola Campus of the Florida State University College of Medicine, where he coordinates the pediatric curriculum and clinical training of 3rd and 4th year medical students. He is also a Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Florida State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Wilson earned his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from the Medical College of Alabama, Birmingham, and completed his internship and residency at North Carolina Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill. A Phi Beta Kappa, he holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alabama.

Dr. Wilson served as Chief of Pediatrics at Maxwell Air Force Base Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama, then relocated to Pensacola, where he has spent the majority of his career as a board certified pediatrician, educator, advisor, and leader in the health care and academic community.

During his 15 years at the University of Florida, Department of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine, Dr. Wilson served as Clinical Assistant Professor, as Medical Director, Faculty, and Emeritus Director of the Pediatric Residency Program at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was Director of Outpatient Services for the Pensacola Education Program Department of Pediatrics, and Medical Director at the Charles Henderson Child Health Center in Troy, Alabama, University Hospital in Pensacola, Escambia County Health Department, and most recently, Emerald Coast Pediatric Primary Care. He has served on the School Health Advisory Committee and Escambia County Public Health Trust.

Since 1968, Dr. Wilson has been a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Escambia County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association, and Florida Pediatric Society. He has been president of the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) of Northwest Florida, Sacred Heart Foundation, Florida Public Health Association, and the Escambia County Medical Society and its non-profit Foundation. Dr. Wilson was a member of the Health and Education Advisory Board of Head Start, is a board member of the Medical Education Council of Pensacola, and a member of West Florida AHEC.

Considered one of the founding fathers in the emergence of specialty care in Pensacola, Dr. Wilson joined the Florida Board of Managers in 2008, representing the western Florida community and bringing an academic and private practice physician perspective.

‘Dr. Bob’ and his wife have been married since January 27, 1957, and have 4 sons and 9 grandchildren. He is an active member of the First Baptist Church, Pensacola.
