Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

child in intensive care

In our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, or the PICU, Nemours’ critical care medicine experts evaluate and treat the most critically ill children, those in need of advanced life support and continuous monitoring in the hospital. Our team is capable of treating an emergency situation on a moment’s notice — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We’re there when your child needs us the most.

Nemours Children’s Clinic, Pensacola, provides a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for children through our pediatric partner hospital, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital.

The close partnership between Sacred Heart and Nemours has not only allowed the clinic to meet the critical care needs of a large and diverse geographic area, but also led to the clinic’s designation as one of the few free-standing regional pediatric trauma referral centers in the state.

The division is also involved in local, regional, and national activities, such as child- safety education, the development of pediatric facility standards, pediatric interfacility transport standards, emergency medical services for children, and other important topics related to children's health.
