Pediatric Primary Care

Nemours offers pediatric primary care at Nemours Pediatrics.

Not every child needs specialty medical care, but all children need special care — the kind you get from the experienced, compassionate primary care pediatricians and advance practice nurses (APN) at Nemours. Our pediatric primary care network consists of Nemours primary care offices and private practices affiliated with our Children’s Health Alliance (CHA) who share our commitment to family-centered care.

From routine check-ups to sick visits for newborns to teens, we’re here for all of your pediatric primary care needs.

At each visit, we’ll check your child’s growth, development, overall health, and give any recommended routine immunizations.

The team at TLC Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, in association with Nemours, takes a whole-child approach to pediatric primary care, focusing on wellness and prevention. We promote healthy living and emotional well-being for kids at every age and stage. Think of us as your child’s “medical home,” here for you through all of those important growth and development milestones, and partnering with you to help your child grow up healthy.

Common Signs, Symptoms, and Illnesses We See

In addition to providing well-child, preventive care like immunizations (vaccines) and health screenings, we evaluate and treat children with a variety of routine illnesses and conditions, including:

  • common cold

Walk-In Sick Time Care

For your convenience, we have walk-in sick time available Monday - Friday from 7:30 - 9 a.m. for our established patients. If your child has an acute illness like a sore throat, fever, cough, or other routine condition, you can visit us anytime during these hours without calling ahead.

Please note we provide this service on a first-come, first-serve basis only for routine illness, not for well-child visits, complicated problems, or follow-up visits. Walk-in sick care is provided by available physicians – if you would like to see a specific provider, please call to schedule a sick-child appointment.

Free Meet-and-Greet Sessions for Expectant Parents

We also offer free, 20-minute informational meetings for expectant parents trying to make a choice about their baby’s primary care pediatrician. This is a great time to meet our doctors and staff, see our facility, and learn more about our practice. Meetings are scheduled on Mondays at 1:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. Call us to schedule a time that works best for you.

Specialty Care Coordination

If your child has special health needs, we can help arrange care with a pediatric specialist of your choice, including specialists at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Lake Nona, or a Nemours Children’s Clinic near downtown Orlando, as well as Lake Mary, and Viera. Some common conditions we refer children for include:

Offering Advice and Information for Every Age

Nemours' holistic approach to pediatric primary care also includes providing you with guidance about what to expect as your child grows, including information about things like:

  • developmental milestones (when you can expect your child to crawl, walk, talk, run, hop, throw a ball)
  • behavior (dealing with tantrums, timeouts, positive parenting, etc.)
  • nutrition (breastfeeding advice, feeding finicky eaters, ensuring a healthy diet in older kids, etc.)
  • injury prevention (childproofing, car safety, bike safety, gun safety, fire safety, water safety, etc.)
