Chief Resident Info

Course Description
Individuals selected to be chief residents frequently possess some natural skills to function in this role but receive little or no formal training in management and leadership skills for the new role. Much of the stress and burn-out commonly experienced by chief residents may be attributed to lack of formal education and support.
This course was created in response to requests for in-depth training of pediatric chief residents. It is designed to prepare the new chief resident before they assume their new responsibilities. To date, over 1,000 chief residents have enthusiastically participated in the program. The course is a continuing education program of the Nemours Center for Medical Leadership, Thomas Jefferson University, and Ross Products, Division of Abbott Laboratories.
