2004 Milestones

The starting team is formed with seven staff members.

A community needs assessment shows that NHPS could add greatest value to the Delaware community in two areas – childhood obesity prevention and emotional/behavioral health promotion.

NHPS convenes an Advisory Council comprised of local and national experts.

A statewide Childhood Obesity Forum is held in July and the proceedings are published.

The NHPS signature message – 5-2-1-Almost None – is coined.

NHPS’ brand image “daisy girl” is introduced with the tag line “Planting the Seeds for Better Health.”

Staff moves into renovated space on Chapman Road.

The first collaborative learning sessions are held with community partners.

Health Affairs, the country’s most respected health policy journal, publishes first-ever issue dedicated to children’s health – Nemours plays a major role in a press conference at the National Press Club.

An Open House for community partners and Nemours and state dignitaries is held.

By the end of the year, five centers and respective directors are in place.

A statewide Child Mental Health Forum is convened by NHPS in December and proceedings are published.
