2A Care Unit
Nursing Manager: Lori Betts, BSN, RN
This 22-bed unit, cares for patients in age from infants to 18 years of age. This unit is designated for short-term, acute rehabilitation of both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury and comprehensive rehabilitation. In addition, ventilator-dependent patients and medical-surgical patients are also admitted along with short stay patients receiving pneumograms or vagus nerve studies. Patient care unit goals are to provide high quality, cost effective care. Primary nursing is used as the service delivery
model. Patients’ and families’ needs are assessed, interventions provided and outcomes evaluated based upon departmental policies and procedures as well as multidisciplinary standards of care and practice. The unit participated in a CARF survey in 2004 in which the Rehabilitation Program received a full accreditation.
