Standards of Excellence

As nurses in the Emergency Department our goal is striving for Excellence in Patient and Family Centered Care. In order to do so we are committed to making our Standards of Excellence part of our daily routine.

  • We will always speak and act professionally and respectfully towards patients, families, and all staff members in the Emergency Department and Hospital.
  • We will resolve conflicts in private by openly discussing the issue at hand and seeking a resolution.
  • We will openly offer and receive constructive criticism along with suggestions on how to improve.
  • We will be better listeners, taking time to reflect on what is being said rather then immediately blaming, rejecting or defending.
  • We will take responsibility and ownership for our actions and behaviors.

As nurses we are stakeholders in the Emergency Department. We need to communicate honestly and respectfully with one another to facilitate growth of our team. It is up to us to create an environment where staff feels appreciated and supported by each other and that our work makes a difference. We all have unique strengths and abilities and will use those abilities to accomplish our goal of Excellence in Patient and Family Centered Care.
