Primary Care

Primary CareThe need to improve access to primary pediatric care for under – or uninsured children in the state of Delaware was identified in the early 1990s.  In keeping with the mission of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, local primary care pediatric practices have been developed both in Delaware and Pennsylvania to respond to this issue.

The network is presently comprised of twelve (12) offices: Nine (9) throughout the state of Delaware and three (3) practices in the Philadelphia area.  Services include well childcare, routine physicals and immunizations, sick office visits and other services related to the provision of primary care in a pediatric setting.

Primary Care accepts patients from birth to age 18 in accordance with the established Patient Age Policy of the duPont Hospital for Children.  Appropriate referral to pediatric specialists and sub-specialists occurs either locally or to duPont Hospital for children, depending upon the patient care need.
