Children's Dental Program

Dr. Garrett LyonsGarrett Browne Lyons Sr., DDS (1933-2007) served the Wilmington community as a dentist for nearly five decades. He was the Director of the Dental Clinic of the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. To continue his legacy of care and compassion for children, the Garrett B. Lyons Sr., DDS Children’s Dental Program is being established at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Interest from funds raised for this program will provide:

  • Specialized, comprehensive pediatric dentistry services.
  • Dental care for children with complex medical conditions or who have suffered dental trauma.
  • Support for young dental professionals who are in training or early in their careers through the Garrett B. Lyons Sr., DDS Fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry.

A funding level of $500,000 is needed in order to establish the program. Donors of $1,000 or more will be recognized as members of The Nemours Society. “Dr. Lyons greeted my daughter (who is autistic), with such a warm smile and told her how happy he was that she came to him. I cried at the end of our visit together because he assured me that he would be able to clean her teeth and would never hurt her.”
