At Nemours, we believe that allergy, asthma, or immunology conditions shouldn't slow a child down. Our highly trained and experienced team is dedicated to diagnosing and treating all types of allergic and immune system conditions in children, from hay fever to food allergies, to asthma and immunodeficiencies.
Our comprehensive care may include skin testing, patch testing and food challenges, along with lab work, pulmonary function testing, and other diagnostic evaluations. Our goal is to determine the cause of the problem, relieve symptoms quickly, and give parents the tools they need to manage their child’s condition at home.
Members of our Division of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, are board-certified and fellowship-trained. Our specially trained allergy nurses and respiratory therapists also are available to provide educational support and assist families with treatments and devices they may need.
To provide a long-term management plan tailored to each child's
individual needs, our team works closely with:
- pulmonologists
- otolaryngologists
- gastroenterologists
- infectious disease specialists
- primary care physicians and others
The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) awarded duPont Hospital for Children the Stage 7 Award.
Stage 7 represents achievement of the highest level on the EMR Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM) – used to track electronic medical record progress at hospitals and health systems. Nemours is one of 59 (or 1.1%) of the more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics Database recognized by HIMSS Analytics with its Stage 7 Award.
Nemours also received the HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence for
helping pioneer the use of electronic medical records in pediatric health.
The award recognizes leadership in the implementation and use of health information technology to improve patient care and medical outcomes.
