Division of Endocrinology
Our Division of Pediatric Endocrinology provides inpatient and outpatient services primarily at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, as well as at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
We have approximately 1,800 inpatient visits (including 120 admissions for new onset Type 1 diabetes mellitus) and 5,500 outpatient visits each year. We also provide outpatient services at Newtown Square, PA, and Seaford, DE.
We specialize in treating children with:
Diabetes mellitus
Short stature
|
Thyroid disorders
Adrenal disorders
Endocrine complications
|
We're extensively involved in clinical research that's NIH- and industry-funded and includes studies like "Self-Management in Research Type 1 Diabetes" and "Natural History of Costello Syndrome."
Our physiologic studies help us understand the complex interactions of nutrients and hormones, as well as help us develop novel treatments – both in original work and through multi-center trials of medications used to treat hormonal problems. Many of these trials provide opportunities for our patients to receive innovative treatments potentially not available elsewhere.
