Division of Nephrology
At the Division of Nephrology at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, our board-certified and fellowship-trained nephrologists work closely with primary care physicians and specialists in Urology, Rheumatology, and Surgery to diagnose and treat virtually all kidney problems. We also offer outpatient services at outreach clinics in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Our team provides treatment that may include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and/or transplant. We offer prenatal testing and counseling for women carrying babies with congenital abnormalities such as cystic kidney diseases and hydronephrosis.
Our staff also has expertise in the treatment of hypertension, kidney stones, and urinary tract infections as well as managing the many side effects children experience as a result of renal failure, including stunted growth.
In addition, we provide family and peer support to help families deal with the stress of kidney disease. With more than two decades of experience and numerous successful transplants, our Solid Organ Transplant team oversees one of the largest pediatric liver and kidney transplant programs in the country. U.S. News & World Report 2011-2012 edition of “Best Children’s Hospitals” ranks pediatric kidney care at duPont Hospital for Children among the best in the nation.
Our division is very active in education, which provides Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) of Jefferson Medical College medical students and Graduate Medical Education (GME) of pediatric residents.
Best Doctors in America®: Only 5% of doctors practicing in the United States are selected for the annual list.
