Meet the Staff
Steven P. Cook, MD, FAAP, FACS, FRSM, is Chairman, Division of Otolaryngology (WLM) and Co-Director of Fellowship at the duPont Hospital for Children. He is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in otolaryngology. He trained at St. Christopher’s Hospital, where he worked prior to joining Nemours. His clinical interests include special needs children, drooling and aspiration.
Patrick C. Barth, MD, is a pediatric otolaryngologist at the duPont Hospital for Children. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann School of Medicine. Dr. Barth completed his residency at Geisinger Medical Center and a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at duPont Hospital for Children. He was a visiting fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children in London. His clinical interests include voice evaluation and treatment, airway obstruction, croup, stridor, airway evaluation and reconstruction, tonsillitis, adenoiditis, sinusitis, and otitis media (ear infections).
Ellen S. Deutsch, MD, FAAP, FACS, is a pediatric otolaryngologist at the duPont Hospital for Children. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. She completed a residency in otolaryngology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She served a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Her clinical interests include tonsillitis, adenoiditis, airway obstruction, croup, sinusitis, stridor, airway evaluation and reconstruction, otitis media, and hearing loss.
Robert C. O'Reilly, MD, FACS, is a pediatric neurotologist at the duPont Hospital for Children and Director of the Cochlear Implant and Vestibular and Balance Disorders Program. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College. He completed a residency in otolaryngology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He served a fellowship in neurotology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His clinical interests include: evaluation of cochlear implantation, vestibular and balance disorders, hearing loss, hearing aids (including BAHA), and the analysis of hearing and listening difficulties for children.
James S. Reilly MD, FAAP, FACS, is a pediatric otolaryngologist at the duPont Hospital for Children and Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He is a graduate of Cornell University Medical College. He completed a residency in general surgery at Roosevelt Hospital in Columbia University and a residency in otolaryngology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He served a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. His clinical interests include: intracapsular tonsillectomy, treatment of otitis media and sinusitis, and the prevention of aspiration and ingestion of small objects.
Richard J. Schmidt, MD, FACS, is a pediatric otolaryngologist at the duPont Hospital for Children. He is a graduate of Drew University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Schmidt completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and served his fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the duPont Hospital for Children. He was a visiting fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children in London. Dr. Schmidt specializes in sinus problems as well as head and neck tumors, with special emphasis on thyroid disease. His additional clinical interests include tracheal stenosis and reconstruction.
Udayan K. Shah, MD, FAAP, FACS, Co-Director of Fellowship, is a pediatric otolaryngologist at the duPont Hospital for Children. He is a graduate of the Boston University School of Medicine, where he completed his residency in Otolaryngology and served as Administrative Chief Resident. He completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he practiced for 9 years. His clinical interests include breathing and hearing disorders in children with an expertise in the introduction of new technologies into clinical medicine. He is active with professional societies and currently holds leadership positions in the American Society for Pediatric Otolaryngology and the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children.
Nursing Staff
Lisa K. Bork, MSN, CPNP, is a nurse practitioner at the duPont Hospital for Children. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Lycoming College. She received her Master’s degree from Wilmington College.
Carmen M. Curry, MSN, CPNP, is a nurse practitioner at the duPont Hospital for Children. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Villanova University. She received her Master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and is a certified Spanish interpreter.
Faye M. Gilad, MSN, CPNP, is a nurse practitioner at the duPont Hospital for Children. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Temple University and her Master’s degree in nursing from Gwynedd-Mercy College.
Sandra R. Holahan, MSN, CPNP, is a nurse practitioner at the duPont Hospital for Children and program coordinator of the Vestibular and Balance Disorders Program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Pacific Lutheran University and her Master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified Spanish interpreter.
