Research

During the latter 4 months of the first year of fellowship, the Fellow is expected to initiate a research project. Research can be basic science (bench) or clinical in nature. The Fellow is also encouraged to prepare Case reports of interesting or unique cases that have been discussed, for submission for publication. We will make arrangements for the Fellow to receive training during the latter part of the 1st year on research methodologies, techniques and how to initiate and carry out a research project.

During the remainder of the fellowship, the fellow will be focusing on completing a research project or meaningful scholarly activity when not participating in clinical activities on the inpatient or outpatient services, or performing procedures. A scholarly oversight committee will be assigned to each fellow to oversee the fellow’s scholarly progress.
