Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship

Nemours Children's Clinic/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is a multi-specialty, tertiary care teaching institution. It is the pediatric department of Jefferson Medical College.

The faculty of the Pediatric Ophthalmology Division, who maintain academic appointments at Jefferson and Wills, consists of 4 fulltime AAPOS approved fellowship trained attendings. Faculty interests are diverse and cover strabismus as well as pediatric ophthalmology problems such as congenital cataracts, congenital glaucoma, oculoplastics, ROP, uveitis, neurophthalmology and conditions associated with pediatric syndromes and medical diseases such as cancer, trauma, transplant, neurofibromatosis, Marfan's, rheumatologic diseases, infectious diseases and congenital abnormalities.

Fellows will have a rich clinical experience at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children consisting of surgery, inpatient consultations and outpatient activity. Additional experience is also gained via inpatient consultations for ROP and other problems at the NICU at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Outpatients are also seen at Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia. Time may also be spent with other subspecialists at Wills seeing pediatric patients. Clinical research is encouraged. Support for meeting attendance and presentation is available.

Located on a 300 acre estate in Wilmington, Delaware, this opportunity also offers the cultural and professional advantages of larger cities, given its convenient location within 30 minutes from downtown Philadelphia, 1½ hours from Washington, D.C. and 2 hours from New York City.

This is an AUPO/AAPOS approved fellowship.
