Evaluation & Feedback

FeedbackAn important part of the learning process is receiving regular feedback. Residents are evaluated with regard to knowledge, attitudes, and skills at the end of each clinical rotation by the responsible attending physicians. These evaluations are discussed with the resident. Residents evaluate attending faculty and each rotation at the end of every block. Residents meet at least twice a year with the program directors for a formal review. The Chief Residents and Program Directors are always available to address individual concerns. A significant part of our annual overnight retreats with residents is working together to develop specific plans to improve the program. Recommendations are then presented directly to the Program Director and Chief Residents.

Individualized Learning Plans are mentored by the Program Directors. System Based Practice evaluations are shared with the hospital Administration often resulting in implementation and improvement. Resident Portfolios are kept, focusing on the core competencies of the ACGME.
