Community Preceptor Program

All residents participate in a primary care experience in private offices in Delaware, Philadelphia, and the Delaware Valley. With more than 30 participating physicians, this is one of the largest private community preceptor programs in the United States. Each resident gains experience in a private office while continuing to serve patients who are medically underserved at traditional inner-city hospital-based clinics.

The residents have three to four one-week blocks in their assigned private offices and can elect to do further block rotations with other pediatricians in the area including solo, group, and managed-care practices. This office-based apprenticeship is designed to train residents in a setting similar to what they will likely practice in the future and to understand the daily practices of their referring pediatricians.
