Achievements & Highlights

Clinical Achievements:

In 2007, all unit-based pharmacists won the “SuperStar” recognition pin from the medical residents for their invaluable service to the medical staff and patients.

In November 2007, a pediatric pharmacist presented at Pediatric Medical Grand Rounds on the topic of Breastfeeding and Medications: a Guide for Prescribers.

Several members of the pharmacy department collaborated to publish the Pediatric Neurosurgery On-Call textbook.

Preceptors have been published in various journals such as Hospital Pharmacy, American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, Drug Topics, and The Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

Posters created by residents and preceptors have been presented at various conferences held by organizations such as IDSA, ASHP, PPAG, AMIA and NACHRI

A pediatric pharmacist was asked to write a pediatric book chapter on the management of pediatric causalities of chemical terrorist attacks. The chapter is for the Textbook of Military Medicine, which is prepared by Department of the Army, Office of The Surgeon General and published by the Borden Institute.

In 2008, a pediatric pharmacist was awarded the Best/Innovative Practice Award by the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group for her submission entitled, “Development of a Computerized Pediatric Anticoagulation Program”.

Highlights of our program:

There is a 6 month split in your required ambulatory care clinic experience, allowing you to experience more than one ambulatory care setting.

There are a total of four elective rotations available for you to tailor the residency to your interests.

Several elective rotations exist for you to choose from.

We work with your interests and background to develop your rotation schedule.

We provide flexibility in your schedule should your interests change over the course of the year.

A residency steering committee has been developed to monitor your progress and provide guidance for the completion of your required activities.

Due to our affiliations with several area hospitals, we are able to provide some experiences off-site.

Due to our standing relationship with Temple University, School of Pharmacy you will have the opportunity to participate in student teaching during your residency year.

The residency interview is conducted with small groups of preceptors so that the atmosphere is relaxed for candidates.
