Duty Hours Policy
All clinical and academic duties directly related to fellowship training must not exceed 80 hours per week, averaged over a four –week period, inclusive of all in-house call activities. Any moonlighting hours, if moonlighting is approved, are included in the duty hours monitoring process.
The fellow is to maintain a log of weekly duty hours that is to be submitted to the Program Director monthly for review and verification of compliance with the duty hours limitation. Upon obtaining evidence of weekly duty hours being in excess of 80 hours, immediate steps will be taken by Program Director to rectify clinical and academic assignments.
Following all clinical assignments involving overnight in-house call responsibility, the fellow will be off of clinical duties the next day.
Within any one-week period, the fellow is to be free of all clinical duties or beeper call at least 24 consecutive hours.
