Facilities

Rotations are done at all three major facilities:

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital—This university hospital in Philadelphia has a large delivery service, a 40-bed NICU, and also serves as a referral site for both ECMO and head cooling in the region.

Christiana Hospital—Located in Newark, DE, this is the only general tertiary care facility in the state, with more than 7,000 annual deliveries and a NICU with an average daily census of 49.

Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children—Rotations in the care of the surgical neonate (including those requiring cardiothoracic surgery) are done at this Wilmington, DE, hospital, with an 18-bed surgical NICU and 10-bed cardiothoracic unit.

Although the three campuses are located within 45 minutes of each other, fellows work at only one of the clinical sites on any given day.
