Cystic Fibrosis
A service of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine, the Cystic Fibrosis Program is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and offers a comprehensive team approach for the treatment and management of children and young adults with cystic fibrosis. The team includes two pediatric pulmonologists, a cystic fibrosis clinical nurse specialist, a genetic counselor, a nutritionist, a respiratory therapist, and a social worker. The dedicated team works together to meet the individual needs of each child and provide patient and family education and support. The Cystic Fibrosis Program meets each Wednesday afternoon.
The program team recognizes the importance of the parents role in the care and healing process of the child: the team strives to involve the parent in every step of the childs treatment. Physicians in the program are specially trained and are experts in cystic fibrosis.
