Pharmacy

The Pharmacy provides comprehensive services and consultation for inpatients 24 hours a day. The Pharmacy staff supplies drug information to all staff members and reviews and dispenses inpatient orders for oral medications, liquids, intravenous solutions, chemotherapy, intravenous nutritionals, and special compounds. The staff has special experience and expertise working with the dosages and particular medications that are best for children.

Services Available:

  • Makes daily rounds with physicians in the intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac units, solid organ transplant service, bone marrow service, general pediatrics, rehabilitation, and hematology/oncology areas
  • Provides drug information to all staff members
  • Reviews all inpatient orders
  • Dispenses all inpatient orders
  • Provides educational programs to parents and health care professionals
  • Supports the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children's research programs

Typical Diagnoses/Problems:

The Pharmacy serves inpatients and outpatients who have a full range of pediatric medical conditions.
