Pulmonology
The Division of Pulmonary Medicine at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children provides consultation, diagnosis, and continuing care and therapy for infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of acute and chronic lung and airway diseases. The division has highly skilled physicians who are experts in treating many life-threatening conditions including cystic fibrosis (CF), asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), recurrent or acute pneumonia, and tuberculosis (TB).
The Division of Pulmonary Medicine works closely with the hospital’s Divisions of Allergy and Immunology, Critical Care Medicine, and Neonatology to offer comprehensive care. Nemours physicians also recognize the importance of the parents’ role in the care and healing process of the child: the division is dedicated to increased communication to build a strong doctor-parent partnership. Physicians at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children are specially trained and are dedicated to providing the highest level of pediatric care to children. The division uses the most up-to-date and innovative techniques available.
The division also provides special programs and clinics for patients with conditions such as cystic fibrosis (CF), tuberculosis (TB), respiratory illnesses associated with neuromuscular disorders, and for children whose life support depends on invasive or noninvasive technologies.
