Motor Vehicle Safety
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children in thje United States, but many of these deaths can be prevented. Placing children in age-and size- appropriate restraint systems reduces serious and fatal injries by more than half (NHTSA 2006a).
Unrestrained or improperly restrained children and adolescents are more likely to be injured, to suffer more severe injuries, and to die in motor vehicle crashes than chidlrenw hoa re restrained.
